Are you just starting out as a PT and hoping to build your brand identity? Or are you in a client rut and hoping to expand your reach? Here we’ll explore 5 no-nonsense ways to grow your personal training business.

Invest in High-Quality Equipment

Whether you have clients visiting you, or whether you go to them, all PTs must be able to provide a wide range of high-quality equipment, such as flat and adjustable weight benches, dumbbells, kettlebells and weight training apparatus. By investing in high-quality equipment, you’ll not only get your money’s worth and longevity out of your equipment, but it also sends an important message to your clients: you’re investing in them!

Make Your Website Powerful

A business is only as strong as its website and as a PT, a strong, clear and concise website is all part of your client experience. Ensure that you have strong, consistent branding throughout your website, including photos and videos, as well as links to your social media pages and contact details. Keep things as simple as possible, including your pricing structure. The more transparent you are from the outset; the more clients will trust you.

Hunt Down Testimonials

The personal training industry is fiercely competitive, so you need to make sure you’re standing apart from your closest competitors. Gathering client testimonials and displaying them on your website and social media pages is a positive step. Make sure you’re sharing before and after photos and the results prospective clients could also achieve with your guidance. Even if clients don’t want to share their photos, simply ask for a couple of lines about your services!

Use Social Media

Social media is a powerful advertising tool and one you should be utilising to engage your target market and to continue to connect with your current client base. Photos and video content of sessions, Q&As with you, high-quality branding, and even your own spin on the latest TikTok or Instagram trends can help prospective clients get to know you, encouraging them to book a session.

Social media can also help you create online communities dedicated to results and sharing tips and advice. You can create group chats, community pages, and share information and even additional challenges that encourage your client base to get to know each other, creating another dynamic and effective feature to your brand.

And Finally:

Make It As Personalised as Possible

Of course, as a personal trainer, you’ll be tailoring training routines and exercises to each individual client. But going a step further can help those clients feel valued and important, which in turn can keep them coming back and referring you to friends and family.

Adding the personal touch to your sessions with these clients, investing time and resources into 121 discussions about their progress, engaging in conversations and remembering details like the names of family members, where they work, asking how their job interview went etc is something all clients (who are willing to share) will appreciate. No matter what business you’re running, the personal touch will always boost sales, trust and loyalty to your brand.
