What products or services do you provide?
As a real estate developer, we work to rebuild communities throughout Massachusetts. We have a solid portfolio of property in Boston, Worcester, Fall River, Everett, New Bedford and Memphis, Tennessee. Since our inception we have partnered with a wide range of developers throughout the region, including those who are committed to providing affordable housing.
How did you enter the business landscape?
While I worked for a number of companies following my post graduate education, I helped established our own venture, Isalia Property Group, in 2010. I knew early on that I had a passion for the business landscape, so I did what I could to follow any opportunities that came my way. I went back to school and obtained a degree from Harvard Business School. Since then, my business has undergone extensive growth and I am motivated by the thought of its continued expansion.
What makes your company stand out?
I would have to say the passion that we demonstrate for each and every project. I worked alongside my wife, and an outstanding team of individuals who all bring value to what it is that we do. I am fortunate enough to have the support of many great investors and friends, who have all helped me navigate the industry. We take pride in being able to help under-served areas all throughout Massachusetts.
What type of businesses interest you and your company?
We own and manage multi-unit properties throughout the State. We maintain a high level of upkeep and we really value the relationships we have with clients and partners. While we are mostly involved with residential multi-family units, we are always searching for new opportunities.
What are your company values?
We are strong believers in open communication. We believe that everyone’s voice should be heard and we encourage constructive dialogue. I think the only way to problem solve is to work together collaboratively.
What do you like most about your job?
I enjoy the constant flux of the business landscape. I love coming to work every day and being able to pursue exciting professional opportunities. I also like that I am making a positive difference in the lives of many individuals.
When I am not working I also volunteer for several charitable organizations including Angel Flight and PALS. I am a certified pilot, so I help transport individuals to medical appointments, which is highly rewarding. I am fortunate that I am in the position to help others.
Any finance or cash-flow tips for new businesses starting out?
While establishing a new business will always be a risk, there are definitely steps individuals can take to mitigate financial loss. My primary recommendation would be to hire only the best employees and service providers, such as attorneys and accountants, architects and developers. Many new businesses try to save money on these items, only to realize the cost of poor performance far exceeds the slight premium for those better individuals and services. My second piece of advice would be to invest in an great software and online services to help you keep track of all your important documents.
Any thoughts on the future of your company and your dreams?
While I am absolutely thrilled and so thankful for the amount of success we have achieved thus far, I would like to expand further over the next five to ten years. My goals is to help more communities and expand our reach as far as we can.
