Most businesses these days are reliant on technology and have employees sitting in front of their computer screens for hours at a time.

These monitors can profoundly affect productivity in the office and on the workers’ health. Choosing the best monitors is vital to keeping employees on the job and healthy to avoid having them request many sick days off due to headaches and eyestrain.

Refresh Rate of the Monitor

Before choosing the monitors for your office, take a look at the refresh rate. This refers to the number of times the picture changes on the screen per second. This is measured in Hz (Hertz). For example, if the monitors only refresh at a rate of 60 Hz, this can cause a lot of eyestrain for employees.

Look for monitors that refresh with a rate of 80 Hz or higher. So they can produce a high-quality picture that rarely causes eyestrain. If your employees are using graphics cards, make sure they can function at that rate.

Monitor Screen Size

The size of the monitor screen is measured diagonally from one corner to the other. The larger screens will produce less eye strain and are easier to work with. Avoid choosing monitors that are smaller than 19 inches to 20 inches in size since workers will probably end up squinting when using them and may develop headaches. Instead, look for monitors with a screen size of approximately 24 inches.

Square versus Wide Screens

While some people prefer widescreen monitors, others would rather work with square ones. If the funds are available all, it would be a good idea to choose the employees. If your company is working on a budget, square monitors are usually preferable unless your employees specifically work on graphic design projects.

Swivel and Tilt

Look for swivel and tilt designs that can easily adjust to keep your employees comfortable. You won’t want your workers having to strain their necks all the time or tilting their heads in different positions to get a good view of the monitor.

Resolution

The monitors you choose should have the highest resolution that you can afford. A minimum resolution would be 1024 x 768 pixels, but the higher, the better to avoid eyestrain.

Privacy Screen Protector

A privacy screen should be provided to any employee working on sensitive and confidential information that should not be shared with anyone else. These screens blackout the side view on the monitors so that only the person sitting directly in front of the screen can see what’s written on it. A privacy screen protector can be placed on the monitor quickly and easily and allows the worker to continue performing his job duties without protecting the screen from prying eyes.
