Using web apps and navigating websites seem easy to do. However, while some people quickly adapt to using them, others are not so adept at using these pages.

Thus, for many people, their experience online is not satisfactory. That said, it is not always ideal to blame it on the slowness of some people to adapt to technology, since it could be poor web design that leads to an unsatisfactory user experience (UX). This happens when web creators do not consider UX design.

Best practices of adding UX to websites

Web designers today are responsible for creating websites that will provide an excellent user experience. But mind you, it is not an easy thing to do. Here are some best practices that can drastically improve your website’s user experience, as recommended by xist2.com, an experienced web design Oxford agency,.

Focus on user experience

When designing a website, you should understand how user experience works, and how to create synergy between the interactive elements of a page, including its text, layout, and graphics. Visual and interactive features raise more emotional responses from web visitors, too. They can encourage them to take action.

Remember that visitors scan rather than read websites

It only takes a few seconds for a visitor to decide whether to stay and discover more or leave the site and look for another one. Therefore, your site’s landing or home page should have the correct visuals or infographics, as these are also the most common elements that attract viewers today. Ensure that the page is scannable and immediately delivers the message, data, or instructions.

Make your site clear and simple

A good website does not need to have the trendiest fonts, colours, and graphics. What you need is a website that is attractive to visitors. So first, make sure that they can find the action buttons quickly. Then, use the visual elements as tools to draw them in, making it easy to find hidden functionalities that will keep them engaged.

Usability versus creativity

Do not change the user interface for the sake of being creative. Most web visitors want to see something familiar and easy to use. Do not make the users take time to figure out a new user interface design. Ensure that the login access remains on the top upper right of the web page. Also, the links should stand out. Do not forget to add a search bar — a vital feature that many web designers forget.

Know the target audience

As a web designer, you must know the client’s target audience. You can design a better website aimed at the intended consumers when you know who they are. Moreover, you can build a target audience profile to meet their needs and wants. You can use designs and styles they are familiar with before adding creative elements to make the website stand out.

Provide your website visitors with a good user experience by having a site that is simple to navigate. Inject it with the proper fonts and colours related to your company and product, and remember to keep things familiar.
