This partnership is aimed at providing a secure digital user experience and enhancing customer satisfaction.

India is currently undergoing a digital revolution, largely driven by the widespread adoption of smartphones and mobile internet access. According to various industry reports, India stands as one of the largest markets for app downloads across various categories and mobile transactions. However, a study conducted by the mobile security testing platform Appknox has highlighted a significant concern: approximately 75 per cent of the top 100 Android apps lack adequate security measures, posing a substantial obstacle to achieving the vision of a Digital India.

In light of this scenario and with the aim of forging a brighter future, Vi, a leading player in the telecom industry, has formed a strategic partnership with Sekura.id, a global provider of mobile data services. Together, they will offer Mobile Identity Services through the Sekura API Framework (SAFr), which will empower Vi customers with an improved mobile login experience, along with robust authentication, verification, and fraud prevention services.

This solution is designed to be user-friendly, password-free, seamless, and inclusive, catering to over 2.5 billion people. It is trusted by global identity vendors and mobile network operators, boasting comprehensive mobile authentication, verification, and fraud prevention capabilities. Sekura.id leverages real-time customer insights from mobile operators to provide valuable data to global banks, fintech companies, cryptocurrency platforms, and consumer brands, all through a single, straightforward API connection.

Avneesh Khosla, Vi’s Chief Marketing Officer, emphasised the importance of this partnership in the face of rising cyberattacks. He stated, “With the growing incidence and frequency of cyberattacks, the need for a password-less, SIM-based security, protection, and identification system has never been as critical and relevant as it is now. At Vi, we have always been conscious and cognisant of our customers’ security while at the same time providing a superlative digital user experience. It will further enable digital freedom for people in emerging economies and improve access to digital services regardless of technology. A truly ubiquitous trust solution on a global scale.”

Mark Harvey, CEO of Sekura.id, expressed his enthusiasm for supporting India’s rapid digital growth by collaborating with major carriers in the country. He added, “We’re delighted to be supporting Digital India’s rapid growth by working with the major carriers in India. We’re especially looking forward to working with Vodafone Idea, bringing new products to the Indian market such as a service that combats the huge problem of APP (Authorised Push Payment) fraud whilst continuing to innovate Mobile Identity by providing seamless and secure methods of authenticating as well as our well-known SAFr Auth, SIM Swap, Mobile to Person Matching services.”

This partnership harnesses the strengths of both companies, enabling Vi to bring innovative mobile identity products and services to millions of additional customers and contributing to making India a SAFr (Secure Authentication Framework) enabled nation.
