Achieve together empowers more than 2,300 people with its supported living developments, residential homes, and other support measures.
Many individuals with physical or mental health needs develop their independence when they move to an Achieve together care home or supported living development.
In a bid to provide homes for even more individuals across England and Wales, Achieve together has now opened a supported living development in Mexborough, Doncaster. Joining Achieve together’s Alderwood LLA Ltd brand, this development of ground-floor homes welcomes individuals to Mexborough’s small, growing community.
Built with sustainability in mind, each bungalow in the development provides a future-proofed, eco-friendly home for people Achieve together supports.
Achieve together’s Supported Living Development in Mexborough
Achieve together’s new supported living development offers 10 elegant homes on a private road in north Mexborough. Five are detached and five are semi-detached or terraced.
Layout
Each single-occupancy, self-contained bungalow features:
An open-plan living space that brings dining and leisure areas together.
A front and back garden.
A double driveway.
Exceptional styling.
Seven of the homes include two double bedrooms and a shared bathroom. The remaining three homes offer one large bedroom and a wet room.
While most of the plots fully embrace the open-plan design, two of the plots feature a central corridor to allow for more privacy around each room.
A Ground-Floor Design With Plenty of Natural Light
The ground-floor design of the homes allows for vaulted ceilings and skylights. These features flood each property with natural light. French doors open into a private garden, bringing even more light into the homes and making the natural surroundings instantly accessible.
High-Quality Kitchens and Bathrooms
The living spaces include British-engineered kitchens from Symphony. Stylish and practical, these kitchens include laminate worktops, an electric hob, an electric oven, an integrated fridge-freezer, an integrated dishwasher, and ambient lighting.
Meanwhile, the bathrooms offer a full-width bath and over-bath shower with a rainfall and twin head. There’s also a heated towel rail, half-pedestal sink, back-to-wall toilet, and vinyl flooring.
An Environmentally Conscious Design
Built with the future in mind, each home in the supported living development boasts a state-of-the-art specification. This specification reflects Achieve together’s latest environmental sustainability figures, detailed in its 2022-23 Impact report.
Over the past year, Achieve together has:
Diverted more than 1,100 tonnes of waste that could otherwise have ended up in landfill sites (as part of its waste management programme).
Generated 534,600 kWh of energy, which is enough to power 143 homes for one year. This avoided the production of 1,224 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
Supported five United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Moving forward, Achieve together’s environmental sustainability objectives are to:
Prepare its environmental, social and governance (ESG) data to enable the organisation to report in accordance with GRI guidelines.
Transition to renewable gas to reduce absolute operational emissions by around 3,082 tCO2.
Continue to procure 100% renewable energy.
Achieve zero waste to landfill by 2027.
These objectives support Achieve together’s wider mission to be net zero by 2045.
In the meantime, this is how the new homes enable low-carbon living:
Air Source Heat Pumps
Each plot has its own air source heat pump, which provides energy-efficient heating and hot water. This energy system enables individuals to save money on traditional gas.
Heating And Insulation
The homes team a beam and block solid floor construction with underfloor heating. This system enables the even distribution of heat throughout each home for the ultimate comfort.
Triple-glazed windows and doors, high-performance thermal insulation and airtight build quality retain the heat in each home.
LED Lighting
Low-energy LED lighting throughout each home also represents an environmentally conscious design choice.
Electric Charging Points for Vehicles
Every home comes with an electric charging point on the driveway. These charging points make it easy to switch to an electric vehicle, allowing drivers to say goodbye to pricey fuel costs.
