Among the variety of modern wall building materials, aerated blocks are dominating their niche, and its high thermal, sound insulation, high compressive strength characteristics have been valued by both builders and customers.

Thermalite blocks by MGN Builders Merchants will ensure cost-effective solutions for a wide range of construction applications at the most competitive price. If you are looking for lightweight and sustainable building materials that are easy to handle, then the building blocks is what you need for your construction project.  Let dive in and find out a bit more about this versatile type of building material.

What are thermalite blocks?

Also referred to as aerated blocks, breeze blocks and arcrete blocks are made of a microcellular structure that features multiple tiny, trapped air pockets that provides this unique building block with comprehensive strength, lightness and exceptionally high thermal insulation and moisture resistance features.

What are Thermalite blocks used for?

In the construction of load-bearing walls and interior partitions.
thermal insulation of brick and reinforced concrete walls from the front side of the building.
In the construction of fences. Such structures are quickly erected and do not require large expenses.
Construction of a reinforced belt along the perimeter of the walls. U-shaped aerated concrete products reinforced with reinforcement are used.
Production of monolithic lintels for various openings. Profile products from aerated concrete are used.

In fact, thermalite breeze blocks can be utilised in beam and floor constructions in domestic garages and other buildings where the floor is required to meet the necessary loading capacity.

The AAC blocks can be used externally for example in garden wall construction, but they must be finished with rendering.

What are the benefits of Thermalite Blocks?

Increased thermal insulation rates, overall dimensions and high frost resistance make it possible to use the breeze block for the construction of residential buildings, the construction of garages and the construction of baths. The material is popular for its reliability and durability. However, block walls need waterproofing protection. The margin of safety provides the ability to build houses from gas blocks with a height of three floors.

Increased dimensions with low weight – durable and dimensionally stable cement-based blocks that are resistant to rot, mold and mildew
Easy to handle -no need to use lifting equipment.
Simplicity of laying blocks on an adhesive composition.
Accelerated rates of construction of walls and partitions.
High thermal insulation characteristics.
Minimum dimensional tolerances, correct shape of products.
Increased sound insulation characteristics – the lightweight characteristics
That light weight also gives a high sound reduction for privacy, both from outside noises and from other rooms when used as interior partition walls.
Resistance to open fire and high temperatures – the aerated breeze blocks are graded a four-hour rating additionally it does not burn therefore they will not produce toxic fumes.
Ecological cleanliness of aerated concrete material.
Ease of mechanical processing of aerated concrete.
Resistance to cold and temperature fluctuations.
The ability to let steam out of the room.
Long term of use.

How strong are aerated blocks?

Aerated Concrete Blocks are very durable and strong enough and is widely recommended for use in building structural part of the building but not strong enough for conventional concrete.

While gas blocks are limited to structural applications in low-rise buildings and partitions and are also a component of curtain walls in taller buildings, they can perform the same function as dense and lightweight blocks.

The lightweight blocks are used in both interior and exterior walls they provide higher insulating properties and lighter specific gravity in comparison to concrete blocks.

Lightweight blocks are made from cement together with one of a range of natural or artificial aggregates such as granular / foamed blast furnace slag, expanded clay or shale, furnace fly ash, fuel ash, or the less common pumice stone. The density of the aggregate is usually proportional to the strength of the block, consequently, for example, “ultra-light” aggregates such as expanded clay and pumice, used for their excellent thermal properties, have relatively low compressive strength.
