The well-known Belgian casino name Circus can now also be found in the Netherlands.

Since March 24, 2022, the company Betca B.V. – a collaboration between GAMING1, Gran Casino and Van der Valk Hotel – has received a license from the Dutch Gaming Authority and is therefore allowed to legally offer online games of chance in the Netherlands through their website Circus.nl.

The new online casino will have to make up for a backlog of several months and is limited by new advertising rules in the Netherlands that came into effect on April 1. The games of chance have been legally available online in the Netherlands since 1 October and since then the companies with a gambling license have advertised extensively on TV, online and in other media. The existing casinos have been able to gain a market share, while the new parties such as Circus Casino Nederland will have to adhere to stricter advertising rules. Circus.nl wants to distinguish itself with quality, innovation and service orientation, while responsible gaming will be of paramount importance, states Martijn Maertens – CEO of Circus.nl

The collaboration

GAMING1 is a big name in the casino world and has several branches both online and landbased, including in Belgium, France and Switzerland. The company has a lot of experience as a gambling company. The Dutch Van der Valk hotel has also gained experience in the Netherlands working together with the Gran Casino in Tiel. There has been a gambling hall next to the famous family hotel since 2015. They therefore know the Dutch market well, although not online. Together the collaboration will use their experience to offer every visitor a unique player experience online, the press release states.

About Circus Casino Netherlands

In the Netherlands, Circus casino will operate with its own sportsbook on the Gaming1 platform and casino content from Oryx. Oryx offers games from many different software suppliers including big names such as Pragmatic play, Evolution and Netent. Gaming1 and Oryx have been working together successfully in Belgium since 2018 and this relationship is now being expanded into the Netherlands. The highly appreciated loyalty club can also be found in the Dutch Circus casino. A big difference is the possibility to offer bonuses to its players in the Netherlands, whereas this is not allowed in Belgium due to advertising policies.

Dutch gambling market legalised

In the Netherlands, the online gambling market has been legalized since 1 April 2021. The first licenses were issued on 1 October by the Dutch Gaming Authority. At the moment there are 17 companies with a gambling license. Only Dutch inhabitants are allowed to sign up at the licensed gambling operators.
