On Wednesday 5th July, HH Judge Joanna Vincent and the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, Sally Scott, will lead a 10K walk across Oxford to raise money for free specialist legal advice agencies. The Oxford Legal Walk is now in its 6th year and is organised in collaboration between Oxford Advice Agencies and the London Legal Support Trust (LLST).

Last year’s event welcomed over 200 people from law firms, barristers’ chambers, legal advice agencies, courts, law schools and those associated with the law industry, raising a total of £16,000. This year, the organisers are hoping to beat this total and are encouraging anyone wanting to support free legal advice in Oxford to join in.

Walkers will be welcomed at Oxford Combined Court from 5.00pm, with the 10k walk taking in Oxford’s beautiful scenery and finishing with a reception at the end of the walk. Speaking on the importance of the walk, Judge Joanna Vincent said “The Oxford Legal Walk changes real lives by allowing advice centres to support people facing homelessness, discrimination, wrongly denied benefit claims and asylum issues and who can’t afford to pay for a lawyer and access justice”.

The walk is organised by the London Legal Support Trust, an independent funder striving to increase access to justice through free legal advice. They help to support over 100 frontline free legal advice charities in London and the South East through grant funding, supporting infrastructure of the sector, and helping agencies reduce costs and save money via pro bono or discounted schemes.
