4 Tips To Improve User Engagement On Your Online Content

You don’t need me to tell you that the future is virtual. Increasingly, the way we communicate, do business, relax, and more is done online rather than face to face. In the wake of COVID-19, this is truer than ever, as many individuals choose to stay safe at home to decrease the risk of catching the virus. Consequently, this means more time spent online.

If you’re serious about the longevity of your business, you must continue to take social media seriously to increase brand awareness and, ultimately, your customer base. Below are four sure-fire tips to ensure your business is remembered and rewarded for its online participation, rather than lost and forgotten in a potential customer’s news feed.

Uphold your brand traits

Brand consistency is integral if you want users to remember your business. For example, if you film all of your videos in different locations, users won’t know where to associate your brand and may become confused or disinterested. Say your brand has a blue colour theme, try to incorporate blue into your content where possible. If your business works with computers, talk about computers on your online platform. Practises such as these will make your online footprint cohesive and easy to pick up on.

Think of it as like someone winding down and watching their favourite sitcom on Openload. The repetitive structure will make the viewing experience familiar, comfortable, and memorable.

Match your content to the platform

Every social media platform has its own USP (unique selling point). Matching your content to the platform ensures that users will see the sort of content from your business that they were actually seeking. For example, on Instagram, keep your content visual and bright. On Facebook, keep it official for things like events and announcements. For a platform like TikTok, snappy, humorous content will do you the most favours.

Keep it human

Don’t forget the power of lifestyle advertising. If all your content looks like one huge commercial, users will probably tune out. Remember that we’re all human. We’ve all become pretty desensitized to advertising due to its saturation in today’s media landscape. Keep things real and honest when you can. Be sure to add character and meaning to your content. Often, a post that has little to do with what your business sells will outperform a post that does.

Post regularly

Most platform’s algorithms are designed to reward pages that upload content consistently and frequently. Though it may be time-consuming, the more your business functions online, the more people will engage with it. It can be a slow burn to upload content continuously, but once your audience starts growing, it’s only going to skyrocket. I’d recommend at least one post per week on every platform you have, but more is even better! Once you get into a good rhythm, posting online will become easy and even enjoyable as you watch your userbase grow, and grow, and grow.
