Wall Street’s Nasdaq hits all-time high as AI frenzy gathers pace

Wall Street pushed into uncharted territory on Tuesday as the Nasdaq Composite climbed to a fresh all time high, fueled by an unrelenting appetite for artificial intelligence stocks. Despite lingering anxieties over AI safety protocols and stretched valuations across the tech sector, investors seemed determined to double down on the industry’s growth potential. The broader index rose nearly half a percent, pushing its total gains for the year past the seventeen percent mark, while the Nasdaq 100 saw even stronger momentum with a jump of zero point eight two percent.

The rally was powered by a mix of semiconductor heavyweights and software innovators. Monolithic Power Systems and Shopify led the charge with surges of eight percent and seven percent respectively, while memory chip maker Micron Technology climbed five percent. Even Nvidia, currently standing as the world’s most valuable company, managed modest gains alongside Apple. While Meta Platforms dipped slightly following a massive spike sparked by its new AI assistant Muse, analysts suggest that such products are finally providing the concrete consumer use cases needed to justify billions in corporate spending.

This surge in confidence came at a volatile moment for global politics, as markets largely ignored the ongoing tensions stemming from the United States’ conflict with Iran. Although President Donald Trump used his address to the United Nations General Assembly to issue stern warnings toward Tehran, subsequent reports of productive meetings between US and Iranian officials helped soothe nerves. This hint of diplomatic progress appeared to shift investor focus away from geopolitical instability and back toward the profit centers of Silicon Valley.

The positive sentiment extended beyond American shores on Wednesday morning, with major indices in Japan and South Korea opening higher. Meanwhile, oil prices remained relatively stable after a sharp drop previously triggered by improved flow out of the Gulf and hopes for renewed diplomacy. For now, it appears that the allure of an AI driven revolution is powerful enough to outweigh both regional wars and economic caution on Wall Street.
