The centerpiece of this investment is the installation of new turf football fields at all six local high schools, ensuring that every team plays on a modern surface regardless of their location. While some projects are still in the planning stages, work is already winding down at Elkmont, Clements, and Tanner high schools, where administrators expect the fields to be game-ready by the time football season kicks off in August.
For those remaining campuses, the timeline shifts slightly toward winter athletics. Construction at Ardmore, East Limestone, and West Limestone high schools is slated to begin in November, meaning these athletes will likely see their upgraded surfaces just in time for soccer season. Beyond the high school level, the district is expanding opportunities for younger students by adding two brand new turf field and track complexes at Blue Springs and Johnson elementary schools. These sites aren’t just simple patches of grass; they are being equipped with full lighting systems, restrooms, and bleachers.
These upgrades represent more than just aesthetic improvements or shorter maintenance cycles. For the first time in history, Limestone County high schools will have the capability to host official track meets locally rather than traveling elsewhere.
