Salim Henareh is the Chief Executive Officer of a private mortgage corporation operating out of Toronto, Canada.

As a leading real estate professional, Salim provides individuals and businesses with the financial resources to purchase residential dwellings, commercial plazas, and the construction of multi-unit properties. With over thirty years of industry-related experience, he brings an innovative approach to real estate acquisition and development.

What do you currently do at your company?

I am the CEO of a private mortgage corporation based out of Toronto. We specialize in business marketing, sales management, financial and business analytics, and real estate acquisition and development. It is my job to oversee everyday operations and ensure that all employees are working towards the same goal.

What defines your way of doing business?

Because we are a private mortgage corporation, we offer a wide range of advantages over financial institutions. With tight rules surrounding mortgage insurance and the steady increase in home prices, many individuals are finding it difficult to acquire the necessary financial resources to secure a property. Our qualification process is streamlined and we offer flexible solutions for both individuals and businesses.

What keys to being productive can you share?

2022 has made time management easier than ever. With so many online applications and innovative software, I try to utilize technology as much as possible. My online calendar is essential and I have my schedule with me at all times. It’s important to figure out what works best for your lifestyle and stick to it.

Tell us one long-term goal in your career.

My long-term goal would definitely be to expand my business operations into new regions. We work diligently to ensure every one of our customers has the necessary financial resources to secure a property. As a private mortgage corporation we eliminate a lot of the regulatory obstacles associated with traditional lending. I want to continue helping individuals and businesses find success.

How do you measure success?

Success is being able to challenge myself daily. I’ve always enjoyed the freedom of entrepreneurship and the endless possibilities that my career allows me. I of course still measure success by our revenue, but I also love navigating the challenges of the real estate sector.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned through the course of your career?

That networking is vital to long-term success. While we utilize online marketing, nothing works better for us than forming professional connections in person. I regularly attend networking events and it has really launched us forward in terms of establishing a client base.

What advice would you give to others aspiring to succeed in your field?

I would tell newcomers to embrace failure. It may seem obvious, but a lot of individuals let obstacles stand in their way of success. If you aren’t making mistakes then you aren’t trying hard enough. Don’t be afraid to fail. Learn to reassess the situation and then try again.

What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?

I am a strong believer in physical activity, so I do my best to make time for exercise at least four to five times per week. Research consistently shows that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Health professionals recommend a minimum of one hundred and fifty minutes a week so I try to stick to that as best I can.

How would your colleagues describe you?

My colleagues would describe me as someone who values the opinions of others. I recognize that I wouldn’t be where I am today without the dedicated team of individuals that work behind me every single day of the year. I value their input and I do my best to ensure everyone is on the same page at all times.

How do you maintain a solid work-life balance?

I consider myself a very family oriented person. When I’m not working I do my best to make time for my friends and family. I think a lot of entrepreneurs work twelve hour days, but I do my best to maintain a work-life balance. It’s important to establish personal and professional boundaries to avoid over-exerting yourself.

Through my experiences I have also learned how to delegate tasks. It’s okay to ask for help and in the long run enhances productivity.

What is one piece of advice that you have never forgotten?

Focus on solving one problem at a time. Business professionals wear many hats, and will often take on too many roles at their company. My advice is to focus your attention where needed and then the rest can wait until later. It’s easy to become overwhelmed in a fast paced environment but it’s also essential to focus on the bigger picture. Make self-reflection a weekly habit and take the time to analyze your strengths and weaknesses.
